Pet Insurance

WidgetBucks - Trend Watch -

pet insurance from my knowledge has been quite a big hit in the USA, especially in dog crazy states like California where people seriously pamper their pets (think paris hilton). The question is, would this be a viable industry here in Singapore and perhaps asia?

Some points to consider, this is data from the USA, but i guess eventually Singapore will be like that too, any pet owners would like to update me on this?

Data gotten from PetCare Pet Insurance

-Veterinary costs are rising. The field of animal medicine has advanced rapidly in past decades allowing veterinarians to successfully treat conditions that were previously considered untreatable. However with these advances has come an increase in the cost of veterinary care. It is estimated that North American pet owners now spend over $10 billion a year on healthcare for their pets.

-One in three pets will need emergency veterinary treatment every year.

-Two out of every three pets will experience a significant health problem during their lifetime.

-pet insurance allows you to proceed with the best course of action recommended by your veterinarian, not what you can afford. You are able worry less about the finances, and concentrate doing the right thing for your sick pet.
